Hack 4 Food |To Feed the Future Event

It is with great pleasure to share with our MIEX Community Hack 4 Food |To Feed the Future hackathon hosted by Future Food Institute (FFI) in Bologna. Now more than ever it is vital to inspire and cultivate innovation, and what better way than with an (online) gathering of great minds!

FFI, in partnership with eminent industry leaders and Italian government agencies in the agri-food sector, will host an online hackathon, to bring together university students, researchers and start-uppers with the aim of developing innovative ideas using digital technologies to respond to agri-food challenges that have emerged as a result of COVID-19, focusing specifically on the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna.

The Challenges:

The hackathon will promote the cross-fertilization of ideas to respond to three challenges faced today by the agri-sector, with concrete solutions and high-potential innovation projects focused on:

- Efficiency, transparency, traceability of food supply chains for safe and quality foods;

- Prevention of waste in the agri-food chain;

- Management of food surpluses for the benefit of the most vulnerable members of society.

The online hackathon will be held on Friday October 9 and Saturday October 10, 2020 on Zoom and will be in Italian.

Winning project will be awarded 5,000 Euros to develop their ideas into action.

This has been an exceptional year for MIEX and for everyone...on the planet! As we reflect on the past few surreal months, though difficult, we cannot help but feel also a sense of hope and gratitude for our MIEX Community. We've been in contact with many of you who have reached out and kept us updated with your situations during this pandemic. Though the world may be different right now, what isn't different is the strength of the #MIEXspirit.

The MIEX Official Call for 2020-2021 academic year is open to ALL applicants until July 14th at 1:00pm (CEST). Please note, due to the current global situation, all related inquiries can be sent to unibo.miex@unibo.it or call us on our MIEX mobile at +393406502043. Applications will be accepted electronically via email or direct download link (Wetransfer, Dropbox, etc.). Online and On Track

Dear MIEX Community,
Well, we made it through this exceptional MIEX semester, and we couldn't have done it with you, our MIEX Community. As we reflect on the past few surreal months, we can't help but feel overwhelmed with pride and gratitude for how our students, staff, partners, professors, business community, guest lecturers and alumni were able to pull together and continue on with the semester successfully, despite facing a global health crisis. Though the world may be different right now, what isn't different is the strength of the MIEX spirit and so we would like to thank everyone for their cooperation, dedication, patience, integrity, dexterity and, above all, their courage.

Thank you to everyone and we look forward to reuniting in grand MIEX style as soon as possible!
